Mr.. Bones in a coffin…he wants out!Posted on October 24th, 2009 @ 9:26 pm
Hi – Tonight’s post is a Halloween card featuring Mr. Bones from the
Scary Skeleton stamp set. He is embossed in white powder on black cardstock. Then I colored in the black areas with a white gel pen to make it look more like a whole skeleton. I made him a coffin, hinged
with a word window punch straps and sponged the wood slats on the front. The rest of the card is pretty easy peasy… little bit of Cast-a-Spell DSP, little bit of purple ribbon, a button and a lovely lilac card base. Almost forgot, the bats are stamped right on the DSP in Versamark and then embossed with black powder to give them a little shine! Hope you like it. Thanks for stopping by!

Scary Skeleton Card – but he’s not very scary…Posted on October 6th, 2009 @ 6:09 pm
Hi – Haven’t had much time to stamp lately but I did manage to sneak down
last night and make this Halloween card. It’s a 4”x4” size which is perfect to tuck in with some chocolate treats to a friend! The skeleton is stamped in Versamark and embossed with white embossing powder and cut out. He comes from the Scary Skeleton stamp set. The DSP is Cast-a-Spell and cut out on the Big Shot with the Top Note die – it’s backed in black cardstock. The Top Note die has a skinny perforated edge and I just snipped that off of the DSP piece so the black would create a border. The circle is from the Batty for You stamp set. I just punched out the skeleton head part of the stamped image with a ¾” circle punch and looped it over the knots in the ribbons – kind of looks like a big rivet or grommet! The 3 buttons in the corner are just from my jar of buttons and seemed to add the little bit of balance I was looking for. Hope you like it! Thanks for stopping by –

Dancing Skeleton!Posted on September 14th, 2009 @ 10:33 pm
Hi – Two posts in one day….yikes!
I love this little skeleton guy and wanted to find a way to make him wiggle! I know there is a way to do it with pennies like on a slider card but it seemed beyond my tired brain to figure it out so I did what I do best – make stuff up!! First the card details: The skeleton is embossed with white powder on black cardstock and I cut him out. The DSP is the new Cast-a-Spell pack. To make the 3-d scallop circle behind him, I cut a piece 1½”x12” and used the scallop punch along the long edge. Then I folded it back and forth in an accordion fold and stuck the end together with sticky strip so it made a circle. Using large glue dots, I stretched it into a bigger circle that would stick out the sides of the orange circle. There’s a little black piece that’s also scalloped behind the Pumpkin Pie ribbon.
The two buttons are actually Certainly Celery and Apricot Appeal but they are close enough when the black gingham ribbon is added! The stamp set is Scary Skeleton from pg 24 of the Idea Book & Catalog. To make the skeleton swing back and forth, I put a paperclip on the back with a glue dot. Then I put a big brad through the loop of the paperclip and stuck it through the orange circle. Now he swings back and forth like he’s dancing. I’m not sure if that’s harder than the penny trick, but it worked for me! Click on the pictures to make them bigger if that helps. Holler if you have any questions! Thanks for stopping by -

4th of July LuminariesPosted on June 24th, 2009 @ 11:39 am
Hi – Thought it was time to post something other than a card! :] Not that I get tired of making them though… These are luminaries made from vellum cardstock with those little battery powered tealights under them. Regular vellum is not really stiff enough so the vellum cardstock is best. The stars are embossed with stamp images from Circle Circus and then punched with SU!’s two star punches. If you want more details than that, email me and I’d be glad to tell you! Hope you like them! They make a nice centerpiece for a 4th of July picnic! Thanks for stopping by -

Ovally Upsy Daisy card!Posted on June 7th, 2009 @ 6:32 pm
Hi – Just a quick post before I get dinner on the table. This was a fun card to make and was inspired by the photo in the catalog (pg 87) of the Upsy Daisy stamps on a box. I liked that the main image was stamped in red – not really one I would have thought of – and it was paired with kraft and Kiwi Kiss. I substituted a scrap piece of Soft Sky I had leftover in my ‘blue’ drawer to die cut the oval frame. I stamped the daisies in Riding Hood Red on Whisper White and then again in Versamark so I could add clear embossing powder and give it some shine! Hard to tell in the photo, but it’s shiny! :] I used my Rough Around the Edges jumbo wheel on the Kraft base. I stamped the flowers in Soft Sky lightly on the white before stamping the sentiment in Stazon black. Layered on an oval and some taffeta ribbon and called it good! Hope you like it. Clear embossing on cardsPosted on May 16th, 2009 @ 5:59 pm
Hi – Today I’ve been playing around with clear embossing powder. The stamp set is “Inspired by Nature” and it’s on the dormant list – meaning it’s available to purchase but not shown in the current catalog. You can see all the stamp sets on the dormant list by clicking here. The “Inspired by Nature” set is a large double-mounted stamp with the flowers on one side and the grass on the other. I used both sides on different cards, stamped with Versamark ink and then heat embossed the images with clear powder. On the grass card I also embossed the butterfly. I think the end results are kind of mellow. Next I’ll have to try some vibrant cards with the clear embossing and see how they turn out. Thanks for stopping by -

Simple Embossed CardPosted on April 15th, 2009 @ 11:50 pm
Hi – I’ve been working on a gift set for my sister-in-law that’s not quite done so I thought I’d post a card I made for my last Stamp Camp instead of skipping out! It’s a pretty simple card to make as long as you have a Big Shot die cut machine. The base of the card is white, the second layer is Certainly Celery (although it looks brighter than that in the picture…) and the top layer is Pretty in Pink. I embossed it in a contraband Cuttlebug embossing folder (gasp!) and rounded the corners of all three layers. The little flower and leaf were die cut from the Birds & Blooms Sizzlits set. The tiny half pearl makes an elegant little flower center, don’t you think?! The rest is fairly easy to put together. Thanks for stopping by!
