Candy Coated Halloween Pretzel RodsPosted on October 29th, 2009 @ 12:08 am
Hi – I’ve been wanting to try this treat ever since
I found these cool long cello bags and wondered what I could put in them. Pretzel rods seemed to be a perfect fit but too plain – so why not dip them in candy coating and cover them with sprinkles?!! Surely that would be more exciting! :0) Then the challenge became to make the topper for each bag different. I think the pumpkin one is my favorite! Or maybe the mummy… Each one is made on a Top Note folded
in half over the top of the cello bag. The Top Note is cut from a Big Shot die, a must have toy! It makes projects like this so easy when you can cut out all 5 Top Notes at once. Hope you like them! Holler if you want any more specific details. Thanks for stopping by –

Mr.. Bones in a coffin…he wants out!Posted on October 24th, 2009 @ 9:26 pm
Hi – Tonight’s post is a Halloween card featuring Mr. Bones from the
Scary Skeleton stamp set. He is embossed in white powder on black cardstock. Then I colored in the black areas with a white gel pen to make it look more like a whole skeleton. I made him a coffin, hinged
with a word window punch straps and sponged the wood slats on the front. The rest of the card is pretty easy peasy… little bit of Cast-a-Spell DSP, little bit of purple ribbon, a button and a lovely lilac card base. Almost forgot, the bats are stamped right on the DSP in Versamark and then embossed with black powder to give them a little shine! Hope you like it. Thanks for stopping by!

Black Cat Favor BoxPosted on September 26th, 2009 @ 1:14 am
Hi – This little black cat didn’t turn out to be very fierce looking for Halloween, did he?!
He’s kinda cute though… He is made from the scallop circles #2 die. I die cut the larger scallop circle and then turned it just a bit and ran it through again to get the pointier look to the scallops. The ears are the 5 point star die, also cut in Basic Black cardstock. If you click on the photo to enlarge it, you can see the ears are folded in to give them a little dimension. His face is all punches – ¾” circle and ½” circle for the eyes, small oval punch for the nose and inside of the ears and his mouth is also the small scallop oval using the negative piece after the oval is cut (leave a comment if that doesn’t make sense and you want a better explanation!). I used Going Gray and Basic Gray for those parts. The favor box die is cut from the Cast-a-Spell DSP and the tag is from the Batty for You stamp set. Peeking out from the box is a cello bag of candy corn tied up with black gingham ribbon and Pumpkin Pie striped grosgrain ribbon. The tag is hanging from the box handle with twine.
Hope you like it – Thanks for stopping by –

Dancing Skeleton!Posted on September 14th, 2009 @ 10:33 pm
Hi – Two posts in one day….yikes!
I love this little skeleton guy and wanted to find a way to make him wiggle! I know there is a way to do it with pennies like on a slider card but it seemed beyond my tired brain to figure it out so I did what I do best – make stuff up!! First the card details: The skeleton is embossed with white powder on black cardstock and I cut him out. The DSP is the new Cast-a-Spell pack. To make the 3-d scallop circle behind him, I cut a piece 1½”x12” and used the scallop punch along the long edge. Then I folded it back and forth in an accordion fold and stuck the end together with sticky strip so it made a circle. Using large glue dots, I stretched it into a bigger circle that would stick out the sides of the orange circle. There’s a little black piece that’s also scalloped behind the Pumpkin Pie ribbon.
The two buttons are actually Certainly Celery and Apricot Appeal but they are close enough when the black gingham ribbon is added! The stamp set is Scary Skeleton from pg 24 of the Idea Book & Catalog. To make the skeleton swing back and forth, I put a paperclip on the back with a glue dot. Then I put a big brad through the loop of the paperclip and stuck it through the orange circle. Now he swings back and forth like he’s dancing. I’m not sure if that’s harder than the penny trick, but it worked for me! Click on the pictures to make them bigger if that helps. Holler if you have any questions! Thanks for stopping by -
