Bella Rose Quilted card set
Posted on June 19th, 2009 @ 12:49 am

Hi – We are finally at the end of the school year and I’ve been working on a few teacher gifts.  My younger son’s teacher is a wonderful quilter and so I thought I’d try making a set of cards for her that look (somewhat!) like little quilts.  I used the Bella Rose DSP and Kiwi Kiss or Riding Hood Red cardstock for the bases.

I’m sure there are other ways to do this, but here’s what I did.  I cut 6 pieces of white cardstock at 4 ¼ x 5 ½.  Then I decided on my pattern for each quilt.  After I cut the pieces (or punched them for the squares pattern), I placed them on the white cardstock like I wanted them.  Some of the pieces went off the edge of the white piece but that’s ok.  Then I sandwiched another white piece on top, lifted the ’sandwich’ and flipped it over.  Take the now top piece off and your pattern pieces will be upside-down on that second white piece.  I put Snail on the first white piece – not too much or it makes your sewing needle sticky! Then carefully place the white piece back on the pattern pieces.  Flip it back over and the pieces should stick.  Trim around the edges to square it off again.  Sew in a zig-zag over all the lines where two pieces meet.  Then I trimmed each piece down to 4 x 5 ¼ and adhered it to my base.  I kept the greeting and embellishments pretty simple because the cards were already kinda busy!  You can click on each card to make it bigger and easier to see.  Hope you like them! Card Portfoli-oli-os!
Posted on June 3rd, 2009 @ 9:51 pm

Hi – Tonight’s post is something a little different than the usual card.  I’m calling it a card portfolio although there might be another name for it that isn’t coming to me right now!  I made 5 different versions today as little end-of-the-year gifts for my friends at preschool.  Each one holds 4 postcard style cards and coordinating envelopes.  The portfolio/folder is made from one sheet of 8-1/2 x 11 paper.

You can click on the photos to make them larger if you’d like.  I’ve had the scoring dimensions and whatnot on a scrap of paper for at least a year so I’m not even sure where I got them now.  They are really easy to make – especially if you are making a bunch and can just assembly-line it! :]  This one is made in Kiwi Kiss (again with the Kiwi!!) and Raspberry Tart DSP.  Both are retiring at the end of June… :(   The inside has two pockets to hold the cards and envelopes.  Ribbon ties it shut!  I have one made in Bella Rose DSP, Delicate Dots, and a black and white with Pink Pirouette as well.  Let me know if you want to see those versions and I can post them too.  Thanks for stopping by -

Friends 24-7 card
Posted on June 1st, 2009 @ 12:15 am

Hi – Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!  I was absent from the stamping room but I’m back at it now!  This is a quick card I made tonight as part of a set.  I made 6 base cards – 2 each in Kiwi Kiss, Riding Hood Red and Pink Pirouette.  They all have the Friendly Words jumbo wheel at the top on Kraft and the matching colored DSP from Bella Rose at the bottom.  They all have a ribbon across the center.  This one here has a medallion from the Gallery set and then nesting circles.  The 3 half pearls came from the Pretties kit.  The other cards are still waiting to see what they will get!  Thanks for stopping by!

Simple Thank You cards
Posted on May 13th, 2009 @ 9:50 pm

Hi – Tonight’s two cards are an attempt to stick with the simpler things.  Sometimes I get a wee bit bogged down in “what else can I add?!” and tonight I tried to aim for simple, yet elegant.  You’ll have to tell me if you think I made it there or if I need do-overs! :]  Both cards are Pink Pirouette and Kiwi Kiss.  The DSP is Bella Rose.  For the Pink Pirouette card I added two felt flowers from the flower fusion kit with a rhinestone brad from the Pretties Kit in the middle.  The “Kind Thanks” stamp is from the Thank You Kindly set…of course. :]  For the Kiwi Kiss card, I used the same stamp except I inked up just the “Thanks” part since I wanted it to fit on the smallest oval punch.  Easy Peasy.  The flower and rhinestone brad came from the Pretties Kit as well.  Doesn’t get much easier!  Hope you like them.  Thanks for stopping by -

Bella Rose Pennant Basket
Posted on May 8th, 2009 @ 12:33 am

Hi – This is another basket I designed using the pennant die for the Big Shot as the sides.  This time I used the Bella Rose DSP, one of my favorites from the current catalog.

The first basket I made like this holds full size cards.  For this one, I put dividers inside so there are two littler and one big compartment.  I put 4 mini cards (3×3) in one small section, a bag of chocolate covered raisins in the center big section and then a post-it note holder in the second small section.  The 3×3’s are Kiwi Kiss and Pirouette Pink with Bella Rose accents, buttons, ribbon, rhinestone brads and flowers.  I love making these little cards because I get to use all those little pieces that I hate to throw away! :]  The stamp sets I used were Thank You Kindly and One of a Kind.  The tag on the chocolate raisins is from Sale-a-bration.  The post-it note holder is made with the top note die for the Big Shot.  I cut one from a chipboard coaster and then one from the Bella Rose DSP and glued them together.  Then I cut the bottom inch (or so :] ) off and sanded the edges.  I punched the holes for the ribbon with the crop-o-dile.   You can click on the photos to make them bigger if you’d like.  I think this would make a lovely teacher gift or gift for a friend.  Think of all the different things you could put in it!  Hope you like it!  Thanks for stopping by -

“Merci” Cards
Posted on April 22nd, 2009 @ 12:54 am

Hi – I love the way these cards turned out!  They are very different but both are cheerful, I think.  The pink card uses the Gallery stamp set for the frame in the middle.  I cut it out and layered a pink 1-1/4 circle on it with the “merci” stamped in the center.  The flowers are felt with a rhinestone brad in the center.  I used the Friends 24-7 set to stamp the Chocolate Chip layer at the bottom.  The red card is Riding Hood Red and Kiwi Kiss. The designer series paper is Bella Rose – a favorite!  The flowers are punched out with the Boho Blossoms punch and the retired Spring flower Bouquet punch.  I hope you like the cards too!  Thanks for stopping by -

“For you” Bella Rose…
Posted on April 11th, 2009 @ 3:58 pm

Hi – Today I thought I’d post a bright flowery card in the hopes that spring might make a quicker appearance!  The drizzle was back this morning but it’s cleared a bit this afternoon.  Anywho – the paper is Bella Rose Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! and the stamps are from the One of a Kind set.  This is one of those where you stamp the three flowers and then punch them all at once perfectly with the Boho Blossoms punch – gotta love the efficiency!  I think I used 5 different punches on this card alone.  Punches are by far my favorite thing to use. :]  Hope you like it!
