Exciting news!Posted on May 27th, 2009 @ 8:11 pm
Hi – I have exciting news! I have just posted my first tutorial for sale on my Products Page! Yah! :0) It is an 11 page tutorial for the Pennant Die Basket, including step by step directions, photographs of each step and all the measurements. There are also pictures of three different samples of the basket. I think you’ll find the directions easy to follow and you’ll love the end results! Click here or on the sidebar to the right on “Products Page.” I hope to be adding another great card box I’ve designed very soon. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Birthday Leopard!Posted on May 26th, 2009 @ 7:32 pm
Hi – Today’s card is a little off center – not literally, but the leopard is blue with orange spots! That seems a tad off… But he’s cute, I think!

I was looking for something to do with the graphic sides of the Walk in the Park DSP. The floral sides seem easier for me to use in my projects. Sometimes the straight lines and shapes of the more graphic designs seem to need too much symmetry or something. Maybe I’m making that up… :] Anyhow, I used the So Saffron and Baja Breeze pieces of the Walk in the Park DSP and layered it on more of the same colors. The leopard is from the Zoofari stamp set and he’s colored with Baja Breeze and an Aquapainter. The dots are just done with a Pumpkin Pie marker. The frame is from the Gallery stamp set, stamped on So Saffron and then cut out and popped up on dimensionals. The leopard’s hat is actually his body stamped and then turned upside-down. The two dots at the top of his back are the bottom of the hat and the dot at the center of his belly is the point of the hat. I just left some extra for fringe and then drew the side lines on with a really skinny black marker. The “Happy Birthday to you” is from Birthday Wish set from the back page of the catalog – it’s only $6.95! The button is threaded and tied with a skinny piece of So Saffron cardstock. And all this is probably way more than you ever wanted to know about one little ol’ card! Hope you like my goofy leopard! Thanks for stopping by -

Daisy CardsPosted on May 23rd, 2009 @ 11:33 pm
Hi – It was a beautiful day here in Western Washington so it’s easy to think in bright colors and flowers! These cards feature the Washington Apple DSP and the Daisies die for the Big Shot. The colors are Riding Hood Red, Bashful Blue, Pumpkin Pie and So Saffron…all bright and happy colors. :] The Daisies die cuts 3 daisies at once in 3 different sizes. Makes it easy to cut lots of flowers out pretty quickly. The red button on the first card has a mini brad in the center. I just pulled the legs apart and pushed them into the button holes. I had to trim a little of the legs off so they didn’t stick out the sides though. A glue dot holds it in place. The second card has a jumbo brad in the center of the daisies. The sentiments came from Garden Greetings (#1) and Great Friend (#2) stamp sets. Hope you like them! Thanks for stopping by -

Sparkly embossed flowersPosted on May 22nd, 2009 @ 8:03 am
Hi – Today’s card is another easy one to put together. The base is Cameo Coral – not a color I use a lot, but in this case I wanted something bright to balance the white on the bottom. And it matched that piece of ribbon! :]

I ran the white through the small dots texture plate for the Big Shot and cut it to fit the bottom 2/3s of the card. Then punched out the flowers with the Boho Blossoms punch from the leftover piece so the flowers have embossed dots on them too. I added mini rhinestones to the middle for a wee bit of sparkle. The “happy birthday” is from the Stem Sayings stamp set. Hope you like it! Thanks for stopping by -

Season of Friendship cardPosted on May 19th, 2009 @ 5:03 pm
Hi – Today’s card is made with the Season of Friendship stamp set. I love this tree and all the accessories that come with it. For this card I stamped the three leaf stamp in Kiwi Kiss, Certainly Celery and Old Olive just to get all the shades of green in there. The red accents are all Riding Hood Red. And the rest is Chocolate Chip. Thanks for stopping by!

Black and white with a filigree on top…Posted on May 18th, 2009 @ 11:35 am
Hi – The sun is out today and it feels like a spring day at last! Always nice to open the windows and let the spring air breeze through the house. :]

Today’s card features contraband paper(!) from Making Memories. I think I got it at Target…no sure… Anyhow, I wanted some DSP that was black and white but SU! doesn’t have much in the current catalog except the polka dotted one in Rockabilly. The base of the card is Almost Amethyst. Can’t you see the same card with a So Saffron Base or Pink Pirouette? Even Real Red would be lovely. The white organza ribbon is SU! and is certainly one of my favorites. Goes with just about anything! Hope you like the card – and I hope the sun in shining where you are today too. Clear embossing on cardsPosted on May 16th, 2009 @ 5:59 pm
Hi – Today I’ve been playing around with clear embossing powder. The stamp set is “Inspired by Nature” and it’s on the dormant list – meaning it’s available to purchase but not shown in the current catalog. You can see all the stamp sets on the dormant list by clicking here. The “Inspired by Nature” set is a large double-mounted stamp with the flowers on one side and the grass on the other. I used both sides on different cards, stamped with Versamark ink and then heat embossed the images with clear powder. On the grass card I also embossed the butterfly. I think the end results are kind of mellow. Next I’ll have to try some vibrant cards with the clear embossing and see how they turn out. Thanks for stopping by -

Whole basket of goofy goodies!Posted on May 15th, 2009 @ 9:30 am
Hi – Just a quick post to share the picture of the teacher goodies before they head out the door to school. I’m not sure if my dog is guarding the basket or hoping I’ll turn my back and he can score a treat!

And here’s the little bag of 3×3 cards I made for my son’s teacher. I forgot to take a picture of the cards before I tied them all up in the bag…bummer.

Hope you have a great day! Thanks for stopping by -

Goofy Goodies!Posted on May 15th, 2009 @ 12:57 am
Hi – This is Teacher Appreciation week at my son’s school. These goody bags are for the staff tomorrow. Instead of the usual bags of cookies or chocolates, we decided to do something a little different and silly – hence the Goofy Goody bags! These are all easy to find items from the grocery store or variety store. There are 17 different items that made 80 bags! I’ve only posted some of them. The topper for each bag is the Top Note die. I used the wheel that goes with Crayon Kids (retired SU!) in craft white ink. The white ink on the black is supposed to look like chalk and a chalkboard. :] Then the punched oval in the center is just a goofy phrase to go with what’s in the bag. – Like “our kids are nuts about you” on a bag of peanuts. And “you are a peachy keen teacher” on a bag of peach gummi rings. Corny, I know… I hope the teachers like them! Thanks for stopping by -
