Little houses in a row…Posted on April 15th, 2010 @ 9:14 pm
This is card #2 using the Welcome Neighbor DSP pack and the Good Neighbors stamp set.
The paper has the houses and the clouds on it already. I stamped the roof pieces and extra clouds, cut them out and then popped them up on dimensionals. The colors are Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay and Kraft with a bit of Soft Suede thrown in with the ribbon. The twine piece ties the darker shade of brown back to the Kraft card base. I kind of like the way the roof pieces aren’t exactly straight – gives them a bit of personality! I think this would make a good card to give someone who is moving into a new house or moving away from your neighborhood. Hope you like it!

Patterned PinesPosted on November 15th, 2009 @ 3:07 pm
Hi – It’s been a busy week of prepping for kids classes
and stamp camps and I’m way past due on posting a sample or two! This card uses the Patterned Pines stamp set from the current mini catalog. I opted to use Baja Breeze ink on Whisper White cardstock instead of a more traditional green tree. I just now noticed that the top of the tree on the far right lines up with the snowflake on the background paper – ha! What a lovely coincidence! :0) The trees are dusted with Dazzling Diamonds glitter for a bit of sparkle. Click on the photo for a larger version. Very simple card to make. Just a strip of ribbon across the middle with no bow to fuss over. Hope you like it – I do! Thanks for stopping by.

Medallion beauties!Posted on August 12th, 2009 @ 7:50 pm
Hi – I love, love the new Medallion stamp! It’s a background stamp so it’s huge and that makes it easy to have a big impact on a card. On these two cards I used it in the background in Bermuda Bay ink on the same colorcard stock. The focal colors are then black and white.

For the “thanks” card I wanted the Medallion image on the white center piece as well and I wanted it to line up so it looked like it was stamped all at once. Here’s my tip of the day: it’s easiest to have that white piece bigger than you need it to be, stamp the image and then trim it down to fit in like a puzzle piece. Yes, I tried lining it up and stamping it first….didn’t work as well! :0) The sentiment is from the Thank You Kindly stamp set. The second card uses the Level 1 hostess set called Holiday Best – free with a $150 order. I punched out 5-¾”circles and lined them up along the bottom of the black piece for a larger scallop. I like the way both these cards turned out – hope you like them too! Thanks for stopping by -

Trendy Trees on my kitchen counter…Posted on August 9th, 2009 @ 2:38 pm
Hi – I love this card….love it! The colors, the trees, the simple layout…But for the love of a sandwich, I could not get a good picture of it! Somehow the colors were all goofy. Too yellow, too orange, too dark. Ack! So I finally gave up at 1:30am and went to sleep. (I know, slacker!) Tried again this afternoon and same deal. That’s when I decided to forget the light box for now and take the picture on the kitchen counter!

At least the card is the right colors now! So Saffron, Old Olive, Soft Suede and white. The striped DSP piece is from the Tall Tales pack. The ribbon is So Saffron as are the buttons with a little linen thread tied through the holes. I stamped the trees from the Trendy Trees set in Old Olive and Soft Suede, using the Stamp-a-ma-jig to align the trunks. They are all cut out and put on with dimensionals and glue dots. The sentiment is in Soft Suede. I used the distressing tool from the Cutter Kit to rough up the edges of the Old Olive piece until the edges started to split and then used my fingers to roll back the top layer of the cardstock. The little scalloped edge was pierced and added underneath. If you look closely you can see the fluffy leaves stamped in So Saffron just under the top left corner of the Old Olive piece – for a little something unexpected. I really {heart} this card. :0) Hope you like it too! Thanks for stopping by -

Tall Tales Slider BoxPosted on July 30th, 2009 @ 6:05 pm
Hi – Today’s post is a slider box I made with my stampin’ buddy Julie. She has a tutorial for it that can be found at her website here. Scroll down on her site to see her Halloween and Christmas sample – they are awesome! The box is about 5″ by 3″ and the base slides out like a matchbox. We put a divider in the middle but you could leave it out and it would hold a lot.

I used the Tall Tales DSP on mine and the Animal Stories stamp set. The So Saffron piece in the center was stamped with the Canvas background stamp and then I fringed the edge to make it look like burlap. I thought the “wish big” sentiment went well with the elephant! : ) Check out Julie’s site to see her slider boxes too! Hope you like it! Thanks for stopping by -

Suede Apricots :)Posted on July 28th, 2009 @ 1:20 pm
Hi – Today’s card was inspired by one I saw in the new Idea Book & Catalog. There are so many beautiful ideas in there that it’s easy to find something to give you inspiration! The card I loved is on page 101, upper right corner. It is made with Soft Suede, More Mustard and Very Vanilla with Ruby Red and More Mustard inks. I used Soft Suede with Apricot Appeal and Very Vanilla instead.

The catalog card used the Bella’s Blooms stamp set and I used Pocket Silhouettes. I added a bit of ribbon – because it’s hard not to! – and had to piece it together on the back of the card so the polka dots didn’t show! I trimmed the bottom of the card front with the scallop edge punch but then added another scalloped edge in Apricot Appeal to bring the card length back to 5½” again. All the scallops are pierced. Hope you like it! Thanks for stopping by -

Small version of boxPosted on July 6th, 2009 @ 6:04 pm
Hi – Hope you all had a safe and happy 4th of July! I took a few days off from posting for some family time. Tonight’s post shows the smaller and skinnier version of the flip top box that is included in the tutorial posted below. It is the same height and width but holds 6-8 cards and envelopes versus the 8-12 for the larger one. I used the Razzleberry Lemonade DSP and Pumpkin Pie cardstock. Hope you like it! Almost In and Almost Out Colors!Posted on June 22nd, 2009 @ 7:05 pm
Hi – Back to stamping after a busy weekend and the first official day of no school! Now if only the sun would shine again…. Anywhooo, I thought I’d mix up some current In Colors and soon-to-be In Colors and make a card tonight. I’ve used Pink Pirouette and Baja Breeze and added Soft Suede. The stamp set is Friends 24/7 and I actually used just that set!

The ribbon is also Soft Suede – it’s polka dotted on the opposite side but I didn’t think the dots went with the look of this card so I tied it on backwards. Hope you like it! Thanks for stopping by -

PS – I think I need to retake the picture of this card…the colors don’t look true. I’ll update tomorrow with a new photo! Picture Edited – looks better now! :]

Can Rich Razzleberry be simple?Posted on June 17th, 2009 @ 11:42 am
Hi – Question of the day…if the cardstock’s name is “Rich Razzleberry,” can you make a simple card with it or will it be rich and razzle-dazzle-ish?! :] Well this card is pretty simple in design. It’s a lot like the Soft Suede card from two posts ago. I changed the colors and the sentiment and shifted things around a bit. Thanks for stopping by -

Orange you glad?Posted on June 15th, 2009 @ 11:42 pm
Hi – I love this orange and yellow combination. Love it. Tried to make a pink card tonight. Didn’t work. Back to orange and yellow! I think I like that the DSP is kind of smudgy and rustic-ish. Then I like putting something like a clean, crisp Pretties flower on top to balance it out. A very simple card, but I like it bestest. The base is Crushed Curry, then Pumpkin Pie and Whisper White. Tired of seeing orange and yellow yet? Maybe tomorrow I’ll get my pink groove back and finish that other card…no promises though! :] Hope you like orange too! Thanks for stopping by -
