School’s almost over! :0)
Posted on June 16th, 2010 @ 9:30 pm

Hi – Tomorrow is the last full day of school!  Kids are cheering, moms are…cheering too! :0)  Here are a few year end teacher gifts and cards.  Julie and I stuck our heads together and came up with these “Fab 5” made with the First Day stamp set.

Picture or Video 612

Well, that’s 3 out of 5!  They are:  a bottle of hand sanitizer (and what teacher doesn’t need plenty of that!), a notepad with a magnetic closure and a tri-fold “Good Student” coupon holder.  Isn’t that worm a hoot?!  On the card, I used the word window punch to make the book shapes that he’s perched upon.  Check Julie’s out at www.thoughtsthatstick.blogspot.com. They are slightly different since we get to yakkin’ and forget what we’re doing!

Here’s the inside of the coupon holder plus the two cards to round out the 5 projects.  Hope you like them!  Holler if you have any questions –

Thanks,

kirstin

Pop-Up Valentine
Posted on January 16th, 2010 @ 11:36 pm

Hi – This card is 4×4 and could be a gift card holder as well as a pop-up card.newly imported 1091  It started as a gift card holder from a store and my stampin’ partner Julie and I took it apart and put our own twist on it.  The red strip with the flower on it is a belly band and it slides off.  Julie has more samples of the scallop circle flowers on her site here as well as how to make them.  Inside the card is a ledge with a slit that will hold a regular newly imported 1095 credit card sized gift card. It sits in the ledge and can be pulled out.  We chose to put in a “Like-o-meter” stamped on a 3×3 piece of Pretty in Pink instead!  The meter stamp is in the new Occasions mini for $8.95.  The paper also comes from the mini catalog and is called “Sending Love.”  Each sheet in the pack has a shimmery glittery side.  I’m not much of a glitter-girl, but this paper is beautiful!  Hope you like it! Thanks for stopping by –

Back to School Treat Box
Posted on August 21st, 2009 @ 10:44 am

Hi – Here’s a darling little treat box made with the Fancy Favor Die for the Big Shot – it’s all dressed up for back to school goodies!  My stamping gal Julie and I made these on Wednesday and had so much fun adding the little pieces here and there.  She’s a clever little bunny and came up with the scissors and pencil using oval punches and the word window punch – pretty cute, eh?!  (Check hers out at thoughtsthatstick.blogspot.com)

The box holds three 3×3 cards, three new pencils, a jumbo paperclip bookmark and a cello bag of trail mix.  The mini chalkboard on the trail mix says, “You’re the apple of my eye.”  I added a name plaque to the front of the mini composition notebook and a long piece of ribbon tied with a button to be a place holder.  It flips from the front of the book to hold your spot.  Hope you like it!  Thanks for stopping by -

Small version of box
Posted on July 6th, 2009 @ 6:04 pm

Hi – Hope you all had a safe and happy 4th of July!  I took a few days off from posting for some family time.  Tonight’s post shows the smaller and skinnier version of the flip top box that is included in the tutorial  posted below. It is the same height and width but holds 6-8 cards and envelopes versus the 8-12 for the larger one.  I used the Razzleberry Lemonade DSP and Pumpkin Pie cardstock.  Hope you like it! Flip Top Box Tutorial now available!
Posted on June 29th, 2009 @ 10:51 am

Hi – The tutorial for my flip top box is now ready!  It is 24 pages in length will lots of photos and step-by-step directions for making the boxes and embellishing it to match the one below.  I used the Tall Tales DSP and the Animal Stories stamp set from the new catalog that lauches today!

newly imported 633

Remember that dimensions for both size boxes are included in the tutorial.  The ones pictured here, here and here are all the larger size that will fit 12 cards and envelopes.  (more, if they are flat cards!)  I also have a version that is skinnier and holds 6-8 cards and envelopes.  It is made with two sheets of 8½x11 cardstock.   The sample in the tutorial of the smaller box is made from Pumpkin Pie cardstock and the Razzleberry Lemonade DSP.  I like to make measuring easy, so the directions will be easy to follow and you’ll be able to make lots and lots of them without getting bogged down in little tick marks on a ruler! :)   I know you’ll be happy with it!  To order, just click the “Buy Now” button below, and I will email you a link to download it.  I would love to see your versions of it!

Thanks,

kirstin

Third flip top box
Posted on June 29th, 2009 @ 10:11 am

Hi – Here’s another version of my box.  I had a lot of gifts I needed for the end of the year!  This one is a bit more my style – love the brighter colors and big flower.  I’m working on the tutorial and will post a button for it soon to preorder.  Hope to have the whole thing ready by the 1st at the latest!  Thanks for stopping by -

Another flip top box
Posted on June 28th, 2009 @ 12:54 am

Hi – Thanks for all the kind comments about my box yesterday!  I got a few emails about where I got the template and to answer that, I made it up myself.  I had a stack of cards I wanted a box for so I created one out of two regular pieces of cardstock – but it was too skinny to hold 12 cards so I made a fatter one!  I’m sure there are similar boxes out there, but I wanted one that was simple and had straight-forward measurements.  I don’t like measuring 3/8ths or 7/8ths so I tend to stick with easier numbers and use as much of the cardstock as I can…I get stingy with my paper! :]  So I’ll work on a tutorial for those that are interested.  In the meantime, here’s another one I did.  Also uses the Walk in the Park DSP.  It’s not my favorite – I like the other one better!  Maybe you’ll like it better than I do!  Thanks for stopping by -

Flip top card box
Posted on June 26th, 2009 @ 11:01 pm

Hi – Tonight’s post is a flip top box I made a while back to hold cards.  I wanted a box to hold about 12 cards but I didn’t want the lid to be hard to line up and put back on each time you open the box – So this is what I came up with.  Kind of reminds me of a crayon box with the hinged lid.   I made it out of one 12×12 sheet and one 8½x11 sheet of cardstock.  Then I wrapped it in the Walk in the Park DSP.  The two sides are rounded so they swing back nicely and the bottom corner doesn’t stick out.  The label is from the Styled Vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware kit.  I used So Saffron brads to attach it though and stuck three Little Leaves behind it.  I like the way it turned out! :]  Hope you like it too!  Thanks for stopping by -

Card Portfoli-oli-os!
Posted on June 3rd, 2009 @ 9:51 pm

Hi – Tonight’s post is something a little different than the usual card.  I’m calling it a card portfolio although there might be another name for it that isn’t coming to me right now!  I made 5 different versions today as little end-of-the-year gifts for my friends at preschool.  Each one holds 4 postcard style cards and coordinating envelopes.  The portfolio/folder is made from one sheet of 8-1/2 x 11 paper.

newly-imported-441

You can click on the photos to make them larger if you’d like.  I’ve had the scoring dimensions and whatnot on a scrap of paper for at least a year so I’m not even sure where I got them now.  They are really easy to make – especially if you are making a bunch and can just assembly-line it! :]  This one is made in Kiwi Kiss (again with the Kiwi!!) and Raspberry Tart DSP.  Both are retiring at the end of June… :(   The inside has two pockets to hold the cards and envelopes.  Ribbon ties it shut!  I have one made in Bella Rose DSP, Delicate Dots, and a black and white with Pink Pirouette as well.  Let me know if you want to see those versions and I can post them too.  Thanks for stopping by -
