One more swap to share

This is a gift card holder I made to swap.  I used the Island Oasis DSP.  One of my pet peeves is wasting paper so I made this from a 6x6 piece with very little left over at all!  I had a bigger version too but it wasn’t as efficient.  I’ll post that one too though in case you prefer a larger size.  Anywho – here’s how you make this one.  Picture or Video 786

Start with a 6x6.

Cut it to 5x6.  Save the 1x6 for the inside pocket.

Fold the 5x6 in half so it’s now 3x2½.

From the open edge, measure in ½” and make a small mark.  Do both sides.  From that mark, cut a straight line down to folded edge corner.  This tapers the sides just a bit to be more purse shaped.

Open it up and adhere the strip you cut off earlier Picture or Video 787 along the fold of one side.  This becomes the pocket to hold your gift card or business card so don’t glue it all the way – just the edges and a bit of the bottom edge.

Cut a Top Note with the Big Shot to be the purse flap.  Fold it in half and adhere half to the back of the side with the pocket.

Decorate the flap, add a little velcro closure and there you have it!  You could add ribbon handles if you wanted but it’s so small, I kind of like the way it looks like a clutch instead of a big bag purse.

Holler if you need better instruction or more pictures.  I’m happy to help!

My second swap card

This is another card I made lots of to swap at Picture or Video 782convention.  It’s the same Animal Stories stamp set but the colors are brighter and I put them in a filmstrip. The spiral edge punch makes it easy.   The little hearts and the “love you” are from the Short & Sweet stamp set –one of my favorites!  The Designer Paper in the background is from the Island Oasis pack.  I used the stripes and the polka dots since I had to cut so many pieces.  The hearts are popped up on dimensionals.  Hope you like it!

Getting ready for convention!

The annual Stampin’ Up! convention starts tomorrow so I’m off to

Picture or Video 774

Salt Lake City in the morning with 10,000 of my closest friends!  There will be tons to see, classes to take, demonstrations to watch and lots and lots of cards to swap!  I didn’t go over-board this year and I’m taking just a few different kinds…  It’s been an assembly line around here trying to get them all ready though.  Cut pieces, punch pieces, fold pieces, stamp pieces…and then put them all together!  Voila, the finished card…Picture or Video 785

I really like these colors together – so Saffron, Marina Mist, Pumpkin Pie and Chocolate Chip.  The animals are from the Animal Stories stamp set and the words are from the Three Little Words stamp set.  I cut the H and the I out with my Big Shot and the Serif Essentials alphabet.  I hope the stampers I swap with like it too!

Monochromatic Mood

Hi there – Today’s card makes great use of all those random strips of paper we all have stashed away!  These are all grey with two Baja Breeze strips since they seemed to fit with their geometric patterns.  The little flower is my favorite part.  It’s three little ones scrunched up and stacked with a brad in the center to hold them together.  Adds a touch of dimension along with the grey taffeta ribbon.  Hope you like it!

Picture or Video 695 Last Friday’s garage sale was a success but I still have lots of stamp sets and paper/ink/reinker sets left.  Give a shout if you are interested and I can send you titles and colors I have available.  The sets are between $4-12 – such a bargain!

A new catalog, new colors and a new stamp set…

Hi – The new catalog launched today and it’s a beauty!  Be sure to check it out at my website:  http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/kirstindavies/catalogs  The samples are just lovely!  I see something new each time I look at a page! :0)

Today’s card is made with a set that will be in the new catalog as a level 2 hostess set – which means you could earn it free with a workshop that totals $300 or more!  Free is always good….The set is called Apple Blossoms.  Three new ink colors were used here too:  Marina Mist, Early Espresso and Crumb Cake.
